Fire Jackell vs Tiathak

Made as my new work for Vcon39. I tried to have a somewhat traditional look and not make it too rigid, as I left some gesture and implied minor wind.

I did hope the storytelling was pretty obvious and basic, but to sum it up:

A blend of fantasy and wildlife, depicting an everyday battle of a creature defending her young from opportunists and other defiled creatures who eat baby animals (in this case, the latter).

Or, to be more specific:
Tiathak (the winged griffon/chimera-like monster) attacks and wounds Jackel pups (a breed of canine that lives in a volcanic region). Obviously, the mother comes along and is trying to distract the monster (and hopefully injure/kill it).


Originally I was going to have a dead pup, but I decided to leave out an obvious body as it seemed inconvenient after a while....but I did imply that he may have already eaten one with the blood laying around. 

I know it seems kind of unpleasant, but that is how the animal kingdom is, especially since this griffon creature isn't really part of nature per say...

Tiathak was created years ago during grade school, in which I made alongside a pure gryphon. Of course, I had to revise him a little (like taking away his fully feathered wings to make him darker and using a vulture-like beak).
